I shared it

We recently had that situation where the Finance Minister was giving his speech and the President was in a deep state of thinking. He could not have been sleeping, i refuse to believe that. And no one can tell us how he must look when he is thinking. So there you have it, in case you were wondering, the President was not sleeping, we all close our eyes sometimes, even blinking takes the closing of the eyes for a second or less and we are never accused of sleeping.

Anyway whether he was sleeping or not, he is an old man, and a very busy old man, for one he is the President of one of the biggest economies in Africa, not sure if we are no1 or no 2 anymore. He is always on the road, and we all know that nature takes its course. Perhaps what we should do is ask, what was he busy with before the speech and we might discover that even some of us might have closed our eyes.

You know how we even close our eyes or sleep when we are driving, with our families because we are tired. Look, this is deadly, but nature has a way, and we sleep while driving. I am not saying the President was sleeping, all I am saying is that is it possible that he has been too busy to the extent that at that moment when he was sitting on that probably very comfortable chair in parliament his 70 plus year old body gave in. Also if you listen to Pravin you are bound to sleep a bit, it would be different if you were to listen to Mbalula because he has moments of bursts and all that, he screams a lot. Pravin’s voice though….

This is not why i am writing this though. After this parliament episode one of the online publications had a headline about the President sleeping, i forgot what the headline was but it was enough for me to just share without thinking twice. I did not read what they were saying in the article, i just shared it, nje.

After a while i just thought about it, and realized that, that was one of the dumbest things i have ever done. I have friends on Facebook who are not South African who i suspect are intelligence agents. What i also realized is that by sharing , i  added to the whole narrative that says blacks are incompetent and corrupt.

We have become tools in the whole matter. Yes the President has his flaws, we all do. In criticizing him and his friends we must always make sure that we do not hurt ourselves.

When he is no longer President, our country will still be there.

Ok Bye

satellite view of earth

So, it’s been about a month since I’ve posted anything. Some of you are probably wondering why. Well, the past few weeks have been hectic for me emotionally, spiritually and workwise.

Life has a tendency to throw curveballs at you, and if you’re not careful, you may get gusted away by the winds. There are violent but quiet storms that happen to many of us at some point in our lives. Outwardly, we look ok. Inwardly, we’re facing the fight of our lives. The good news is, they pass. And when they do you see much clearer, dust yourself off, and keep on walking.

I’m one of those people that life has forced to be self-employed. Inasmuch as it’s exciting and fulfilling, there are times when you feel like quitting. Being self employed is challenging because it is literally no work, no pay. And this is not to say that…

what are we waiting for?

Unknown

The behaviour of the ANC and the way things are in general is getting worse. But we are also to blame, yes you, don’t look for someone else, you. Most of us who sit there and critisize are to blame for this and i am not for a second suggesting that we need to change who we vote for. Frankly i do think any political party will just mess things up more. It cannot continue like this where it is left to the politicians to decide our fate, well they have already and it is not good.  Continue reading “what are we waiting for?”

the dive

dive

for the swimmers and those who watch the swimmers, those who would go under water only to emerge on the other side of the pool.

This for me is the same as meeting people and having a positive impact on their lives only to disappear and emerge later. The thing about this emergence is whether you are better than how you were when you went under, whether in your disappearance you learned what was supposed to be learned.

will those that saw you go under be proud to tell those that will only see you when you emerge from down under stories of how you once changed their lives. Or will it be a first for everyone. You don’t need to be the one telling your story, let others tell people about you.

the journey

goals

the journey, what journey?……..the journey of life, the entrepreneurship journey, and all the other journeys we are on. But wait, how are you on a journey if the destination is not clear. I actually think when one talks of the journey of life, the destination can only be the inevitable death, after all thats where we are all going. Down there.

So, lets not be too extreme and maybe entertain the journey narrative for what it has been made to mean. I think it has meant that since we are not that equipped in goal setting whether it be by design or choice, we are ok with the definition of journey as meaning that we are here, just here, and while we are alive we are on a journey.

blinded by arrogance

In the morning when i wake up i do the normal thing of reaching for my phone. Sometimes after taking it i realise that maybe i should not have done that since whatever i may come across may determine my whole day. So i did the same yesterday, this time i ended up playing the brother while lying on my back. Meaning i decided to offer brotherly advice to my sisters and brothers, sending them SMSs.

two separate worlds but the ones in the seemingly good places are the most unhappy

Straight to the point, the people who stay in town and in the suburbs are the most unhappy people i tell you. They are actually not free. Everything about them is about security and permanence.

You see, like that bird that walks on top of leaves that have fallen on top of the water, i don’t know the name of the bird, we should all try to be like that. Realise that you can only stay on a leaf long enough before it sinks into the water and then move on to the next one. We just need to understand that nothing is forever, we should be masters of this, after all we all know we are going to die, and the most interesting thing about it is that, it can happen anytime. Today even. Blablablabla. Actually i read a book, a small one which i am still searching for about this bird.

The Hustle Continues

You know sometimes you must just sit back and think of where you come from. Especially if you find that you are struggling to break through somehow. In many cases this process helps you to see how much you have not changed maybe in that you are repeating what you did many years ago. If you write or keep a journal like myself you will obviously just get those old journals or even diaries to go through the entries. Well this is what I did recently and it really opened up my eyes to some shocking reality. In short I realized that I needed change, I am working on it.

where are these motivational speakers when you need them……fuck it, come out now

Apparently I have some motivational traits, when I speak people get inspired….apparently. I have found myself avoiding to call myself a motivational speaker partly because the biggest targets for this motivational business are the christians because every motivational talk has to have that God line or two. The atheist in me will never say that. I might be wrong of course, but being wrong is ok sometimes.

its a bad idea to be politically inactive

i have never been very active or at least i have never been a card carrying member of any political party. I have never been too loyal I suppose given the default ANC vote that is expected from most black people in our country. I have voted for three political parties, of course i started with the ANC, lets say i was young and blind, the ANC was the party i was supposed to vote for, this was in 1999 when i could vote. In the next elections of 2004 i could not vote for the ANC, had to vote for a party and at that time, COPE was the new kid on the block and it made sense to vote for them mainly because the ANC was on a path i was not happy with and that they seemed to be representing the view that i was comfortable with. 2014, another new kid on the block the EFF, i voted for them and i am relatively happy with my vote and would do it again given the chance. I must say though that in my head i have seriously considered the DA. It is just that there is that thing that has kept me away from voting for the DA, but given my record i might just vote for the DA in the next elections, unless if there is a new kid on the block again.
